In fact, questioning is the only path to an unshakable faith!
You only know your faith is right, and worth believing in when it stands the test of and answers any question!
Not with philosophical mystical BS but answers that can be repeated and tested across situations!
That’s the only way for faith to become a fact that no one questions anymore! Like gravity!
Any mystique or mystery or belief because it’s said by ‘God himself’ and he can’t be wrong turns your faith into a lame search that settles for philosophy rather than fact!
The purpose of ‘blind’ faith based on social proof is not to make the faith unquestionable, rather it is to give you the ability to use faith without needing to understand the whole science behind it!
For example, People don’t have to understand the derivation of Gravitational equations or run experiments in a lab to know that they should not jump from a roof!
But that does not mean that gravity can not be questioned or put to the test…
Or that it answers with ‘exceptions’ when questioned!
These ‘exceptions’ and ‘philosophies’ point to gaps! Gaps that must be filled so that ‘faith’ can become ‘fact’!
Anyone who is settling for philosophy despite the voice in his head that says ‘This could be BS’ is doing it out of fear or ignorance!
Interestingly the beliefs of these people are ‘much stronger’. But it’s the people who dare to ask questions, even if it’s contrary to what the whole world believes, that actually contribute to filling the gaps in the faith.
To bring the faith closer to the fact! For example, Galleleo annihilated the long-running idea of ‘The Sun revolves around the Earth’ and furthered humanity’s understanding of astrophysics.
Then he had to pay for it with his life because back then ‘science’ was ‘ruled’ by fear-mongering believers who took ‘Aristotle’ to be the ‘god of science’ whose understanding can’t be questioned.
Any other approach that makes god and faith unquestionable and labels the questioners as ‘lame and inexperienced’ makes the faith weak, driven by the afraid through the tools of fearmongering!
Religion is a compilation of stories, meant to help you go inward and find peace!
It’s not unquestionable science that ‘accurately explains’ ‘How the physical world works’!
Sure there are so many things that we don’t know.
but using that as justification to say BS philosophies are unquestionable facts? That robs us of the ability to question, which is the only way to get closer to the fact!
We had Gods, sons of gods, prophets, and preachers who knew more than most people at the time! But saying that because of that anything and everything they said is unquestionable, pigeon holes us in their BS philosophies in areas where they had no expertise and away from any progress toward fact.
To me Christ is a Massiah, the king of kindness, and if that’s what I am looking to understand then he is a great role model and researcher.
He gained influence because of that! And after gaining influence he told stories about how the physical world works! They were at best models to the best of his knowledge!
Stories like Noah’s arc model of the evolution of Earth!
Most of these stories are not even his own, they are propaganda, perpetuated by people in his name, And if I accept all these stories at face value without questioning or putting them to the test then I am pushing myself into a very limited version of life!
The best answer is that these stories were encoded messages as tips for personal conduct and achieving a better inner understanding!
Because I don’t think the king of kindness would be so stupid to teach or preach how the physical world works!
Rutherford had a plum-pudding model of the atom, he was wrong, but he was a great scientist with limited understanding who furthered the cause of science because he had great students who knew that the way forward to a more accurate model of the atom was to question the understanding of their great teacher!
What if he was the unquestionable master rather than a highly intelligent teacher?
The earth would have taken another 500 years to get to where it is today!
Unquestionable faith slows the search for and progress toward facts!
