When you get a new idea it feels like the most important thing in the world. But the thing is if you keep chasing every new idea that you get then you’re never gonna be able to finish anything even get it to a point where it gives you some returns
You will just end up choosing one shiny object after another
Here’s a tool to evaluate if the idea really is as important as it seems in the heat of that moment
- Unless it’s a bypass surgery park it for a week
- Then come back after a week and identify the most important thing that you did in the last week
- Now if you had to choose one between that thing and this idea which one is it going to be?
This is for an idea that will take a couple of days to execute.
If you want to evaluate an idea and I will take a couple of weeks to execute and then wait for a month!
if it’s about an idea that’ll take a couple of months to execute then wait for a year!
Before you go all “in a year it will lose its meaning” look back and look down you are in a mess. Only because you always procrastinated and when you were not procrastinating you chased every shiny idea ever!
It takes courage to say no! Even when you don’t know what you could lose if you say no!
And it takes a lot of clarity to not care about what you’re going to lose if you say no!
Saying no to some things means saying yes to other things.
And when those other things are worth it,
what you stand to lose by saying no stops to matter!
