Richard Carlson says: the only thing holding your depression in place is your own thinking… To expand on that, it’s the negetive, more specifically despair oriented “I don’t think I am ever gonna get out of this” thinking that’s holding the depression in place… All you need is to pay enough attention to a solution and your creativity will start creating instead of destroying…
When you are stuck in the negetive, there’s nothing I can do land it’s impossible to think of a way out… That’s where you can use help
- Talk to someone
- Watch a solution-oriented video (Self-help content always works for me they anchor me to ways that things can actually be improved)
- Talk to a therapist or take pills if need be
The realization that all your thoughts and emotions that accompany those thoughts are temporary… They come and go help you know that this negativity that you are feeling, no matter how extreme shall pass, So you don’t act out your thoughts or take the negetive emotions too seriously
Condition your environment and habits
It feeds your solution-oriented thinking and ways you can improve rather than the ways you are stuck in a rut… For example, reading practical self-help rather than ogling at Instagram models that make you feel incompetent…
Non-identification can help
I am not my thoughts or emotions… I haven’t felt it so I can’t give you practical guidance on how to get there… But I have felt and realized that thoughts and emotions are transient, but I am not… So technically I can’t be my thoughts or emotions
