Urgent, inflated, and life-threatening that’s what most thought-related problems look like…
We keep hitting it and hitting it making it look urgent, dramatic, and life-threatening…
When I am conflicted, torn, and distressed, looking for an urgent solution to a life-threatening problem, I have only given a negetive thought too much credence
Time and again it has been proven that such problems are thought-created… and while I can’t completely stay calm and discard, I can learn to discredit my thinking when I am caught up in one such thought attack…
Sure the problem won’t solve itself… But I can’t solve it either if all I am doing is stuck in the conflict… And in that state, all I am doing is causing myself distress in the process…
Either dismiss and deal with the problem once in a better mood…
Or deal with the problem with a little bit of perspective…
- Would this matter once I am in a better mood?
- I know that I tend to get anxious, what was the trigger of this conflict? Was it in a state of stress? Would I take it seriously if I was in a jolly mood? If the answer is no then it’s a non-conflict…
- Is it actually as life or death as I am making it to be?
- In reality, is either of the alternatives a one-way door?
- My emotions tell me if I am stuck in one such depressive conflict, all I have to do is witness, slow down, take a step back, deflate the drama and regain prospective! My version of RAIN…
As in the case of whether I should take the anti-anxiety or anti-psychotic… Solution is simple
Take the anti-anxiety, if it doesn’t work you will be naturally asked to go visit the doctor… But trying to get to a solid conclusion with no knowledge or medical perspective is bound to create unnecessary conflict and distress in my head…
It’s not the problem but overthinking about the problem that causes the distress
And stressed the state does not give a solution at least definitely not the best solution…
It’s best to come back to a neutral or positive easy emotional state where we have access to our common sense before solving the problem…
Emotional extremes create bad ideas that are not worth chasing!
